About Razzolink: a local, family-owned business with a committment to excellent customer service
The Iacopi brothers have a long history of providing cable and broadband services to Northern California
John Iacopi
John Iacopi, co-founder and President of Razzolink, shares with
his brother Tony, a long history in the cable television and broadband
industries. John's most recent position was Director of the Western
Region Office for Vectren Communications Services. He was responsible
for the design, construction, and operations of all Western region
projects including the new Alameda Power and Telecommunications’
community-owned, state-of-the-art broadband network in Alameda,
California. Prior to Vectren, John was the Director of Marketing
and Government Affairs at USA Media Group.
USA Media Group purchased the Iacopi family-owned business, WestStar Communications. John and Tony were the third generation participating in the family-owned business that began as the first cable television company in San Francisco in the early 1950s. WestStar served several small communities in California, Nevada and Idaho.
Serving the needs of rural areas requires community involvement and the willingness to go up against the "big guys" on occasion. Because small communities are often overlooked by large cable providers, John became actively involved in lobbying efforts for the Small Cable Business Association regarding the 1992 Cable Act. Many of the act's provisions favored large cable companies, ignored the needs of small communities, and crippled the ability of small cable operators to compete. Due to the lobbying efforts of John and others in the Cable Business Association, many of these provisions were overturned in subsequent revisions of the act. As a result, small operators were allowed to continue to thrive in many communities.
In addition to the Small Cable Business Association, John has been a member of the National Cable Cooperative and California Cable Television Associations. He is an experienced negotiator, effective public relations spokesperson, and seasoned financial manager. John has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from California State University at Sacramento.
Tony Iacopi
Anthony (Tony) Iacopi, co-founder and Executive Vice President
of Razzolink, most recently held the position of Engineering Manager
at Vectren Communication Services. His engineering group designed
and installed a hybrid fiber-coax network infrastructure for Alameda
Power and Telecom. This was the first turnkey broadband cable system
for video and data built for a municipal utility in the United States.
Tony and his staff developed the necessary methods, procedures,
and processes for the project. Prior to Vectren, Tony was the Senior
Product Manager for DSL and the Launch Project Manager at Excite@Home.
At USA Media Group, Tony was a Director for USA@Home, the company's
high-speed cable modem service.
In the Iacopi family-owned businesses of WestStar Companies and Coastside Cable TV, Tony served as the Regional Manager and Vice President and Director of Operations, respectively. Coastside provided high-speed data services over the cable system to Fort Ord, in the Monterey area, as early as 1988 with speeds of 19.2 Kbps--considered extremely fast at the time. He has been a long-time resident of the Monterey area, and he and his wife are active in the community. He was a team member of the Fort Ord Reuse Authority, formed when the former Army base was closed down and turned over to the community. Fort Ord is now the home of California State at Monterey Bay.
Tony and his brother John are the third generation of the Iacopi family to establish a career in the cable television and broadband industries. He excels at bringing together teams from various disciplines to deliver new technology to communities. Tony holds a BA in Biological Science, a BS in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and a Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering from California State University, Sacramento. He was a charter board member of the Small Cable Business Association.
